Oak's no joke

It was a long weekend of work.  It is progressing, and keeps getting faster, but is still quite slow.  The pace kicked up though with Amber clearing off space where installation was to be and moving lumber upstairs for trimming.  So out of the big room about 5 of the 600 feet were installed slow and steady.  The bright point was our tiles arrived from Mexico (photo included) for our bathroom.  Both Amber and I are quite happy with the colors and designs.
Speaking of design, I was lucky enough to be interviewed about my project by an architectural writer the past week.  So I will shamelessly self promote the link. http://fstoparch.blogspot.com/

Not much to say beyond that, shorter post but lots of pictures.

Molasses in June?

I went into the weekend thinking that putting in floors would be a fast process.  Yet again I have to stand back and reevaluate.  Instead of getting half the wood installed this weekend, pushing long hours only got about 350' in.
Beyond my frustrations both of my uncles and father showed up this weekend to see the progress done and were impressed so I guess that in general things keep coming along, but seriously floors put the "hard" back into hard wood.

Brick Cuts and slow progress

The past week or so has been plodding along with the main goal being to finish all the brickwork.  Most of the extensive work has been finished with the triangle hole filled in completely now and the stairwell to the basement finished with the floor repaired.  Unfortunately that fell short as there are a few last interior places that need to have either new brick put in or old brick repaired.  Hopefully that will be done either tomorrow night or by tuesday evening so we can get areas cleared out and prepped for floor installation.  If all goes to plan the floors should start going in either by the end of the week or by the latest the weekend.
Independently Lynch has been tasked with putting in window sashes and has been doing and excellent job.  The pieces are cut very well and the caulking is extremely neat (aka there is no caulk smeared all over the brick), and should have all the windows foamed, sashed and caulked at some point here this week or early next depending on the weather.
As far as material buying it looks like we may be in the home stretch with only a small number of expenses left (small in comparison).  Most of the things we need to make it a livable space are on site and just waiting to be installed.  So despite being behind schedule I am still optimistic about having the interior finished by the end of the summer.

Brick Work

The past few days have been pretty straight forward and boring as far as the labor is concerned.  Lynch continues to build the sashes for all the replaced windows and I continue to mix mortar and lay bricks.  So far things are still getting worked on for the most part.  In order to finish the brick entirely I need to get my tile saw out and working.   The plan is to leave all the cuts for the end and then finish up with one fell swoop, but who knows.  If things keep working this rate then all the brick should be repaired in by the end of next weekend and wood flooring should begin.
